History
Originally competing in the Southwest Lacrosse Association, Texas Tech quickly became a dominant force, later joining the Lone Star Alliance (LSA) of the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA). Throughout its storied history, the Red Raiders have captured nine Division I Conference Championships (1979, 1980, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1992, 2005) and finished as conference runners-up six times (1981, 1987, 1991, 1995, 2003, 2006).
Like many programs, Tech Lacrosse faced challenges during the 2020s, but true to its roots, the team fought its way back—returning stronger and more united than ever. Now competing at the MCLA Division II level, the program remains committed to growing the game of lacrosse in Lubbock and across West Texas, providing opportunities for both experienced players and newcomers alike.
Texas Tech Men’s Lacrosse is more than just a team—it’s a community built on dedication, tradition, and the love of the game. Whether you’re a lifelong player or picking up a stick for the first time, there’s a place for you in Raider Lacrosse.
